Midlatitude cyclone - The mid latitude cyclone is typical of middle and high latitudes and can range in severity from weak disturbance to powerful storms. They are often called a depression or an extratropical (outside of the tropics) cyclone. It is characterized by a circular wind pattern and low-pressure field.
